Fourth Annual Rotary Emergency Disaster Initiative Conference
Attached is the final revision of the agenda for the upcoming REDI IV conference scheduled in Houston on February 5-6.
Registration has started to pickup and we are optimistic
that more will be registering within the next 10 days. Event information
is available at
REDI Conference Info.
PDG Charlie Thorp, D5890 and his steering committee have been working hard to
make this successful.
At REDI IV, we want everyone to leave the conference with
a WRITTEN EMERGENCY OPEREATIONS PLAN that they can take back to their Rotary
club or district and tweak it to fit their needs. We have recruited
disaster experts to lead the discussion groups. Unfortunately for all of
us, one of our key presenters, Lee Malany, was called into action by our U.S.
State Department and is currently in Haiti on a disaster management assignment.
A.J. Briding has filled in for Lee and is a very knowledgeable expert in this
field.
I want to thank all of you for participating in this
year's conference. Unfortunately, Haiti proves once again that preparation
and planning are key when an unfortunate incident occurs. No one area of
this world has an exclusive claim to disasters. All of us are vulnerable
and the only remaining question is who is next?
I am looking forward to seeing all of you in Houston!
